A Soldier Is Someone…

I recently was at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York one morning to watch and photograph two cadet regiments form up on the Parade Grounds.  Seated in the viewing stands were a group of World War II veterans.  I’m not sure what drew me to capture a close-up of this particular veteran.  Maybe it was his expression or maybe it was because of the way the morning sun seamed to project a spotlight on his face.  Whatever the reason, he reminds me of the following quote “A Soldier is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to their country for an amount up to, and including their life!!!”  This hero certainly did that and judging from his cap so did his three sons.
