As much as we enjoy indoor sports, the outdoor season is upon us and we are ready to start enjoying a bit of fresh air and sunshine. If you are interested in photography coverage of your sporting events such as lacrosse or softball in the spring, please contact us and we’ll do our best to get to one of your games this season. We’ve got quite a few commitments already, but there are some slots left especially in the second half of May. Rain or shine, we can still photograph the action while you enjoy the event. Go to Booster Club Services for additional details.
We were at the NJSIAA Ice Hockey State Finals held at William G. Mennen Ice Arena on March 23, 2007 and got to watch two excellent and very close games. Photos taken during the NJSIAA State Ice Hockey Tournament of Champions Finals held at William G. Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown New Jersey may now be viewed on-line. The game between the two public and the non-public high school galleries have about 300 images taken during the warm-ups, the game itself as well as some of the images taken after the game.
In addition to the photos in the galleries above, you can also view images taken by Rich Graessle of NY Greenpics and video footage taken by Phil McRimmon of NJHotshots. If I find galleries created by other photographers who also strobed the event, I will post them here as well. I am not trying to promote or endorse the quality of the competition. You are going to find their site anyway so you may as well learn about them from here. There were a dozen or more professional photographers at the event though there were only about six of us who were using professional strobes similar to those you would find at Continental Arena or other professional sports venues. Strobed action photos will look great small and still look spectacular (i.e. sharp and no noise & grain) blown up to a 20×30.
The fans were really there for their favorite sports teams and a special thanks to all the game officials! Enjoy the photographs!

A BIG shout out to all the photographers that were present at the game and using strobes. Everyone was real cooperative in coordinating Pocket Wizard frequencies and agreeing to bounce their lights off the ceiling as opposed to hitting the players with a powerful flash directly. I prefer direct light myself for that high-contrast Sports-Illustrated look but opted to bounce. I was afraid with so many of us strobing the place like the northern lights we could’ve been disruptive. I’m just happy indoor sports are over so I do not have to lug lights around everywhere anymore.

I was just reading through my April 2007 issue of Volleyball Magazine, which contains a host of great articles on the sport as well as strength and conditioning tips for those that want to excel in this fast moving sport. The awards section contains the 2006-2007 Gatorade Girls High School Volleyball Player of the Year Awards, including the player of the year for each state. The distinguished award for the State of New Jersey goes to Nina Camaioni of Williamstown High School. She and her team became the 2006 Group III champions when they defeated West Morris Central High School in a very close game during the Tournament of Champions Volleyball Group Finals held at the William Patterson University Recreation Center Gymnasium on November 11, 2006
Here are a few samples from the game
